Beaches of Sri Lanka 8-Day Coast Tour
Outrigger canoes rest on Negombo's sand at dawn, and by the end of the week you will have traded them for the quiet coves around Tangalle. In between come the Bentota River, Galle's walled fort and Weligama's gentle surf, all along Sri Lanka's west and south coasts.

Overview
Sri Lanka’s west and south coasts are a string of very different beach towns, and this route lets you sample them in order without long drives. Negombo, close to the airport, is a fishing town with a lagoon, a busy fish market and a Dutch-era canal. Bentota, further south, has a broad river mouth for boat trips and Lunuganga, the garden estate of the architect Geoffrey Bawa.
Galle brings history to the beach days, with its walled Dutch fort, lighthouse and nearby swimming coves at Unawatuna and Jungle Beach. Weligama’s long, sheltered bay is ideal for a first surf lesson, and from neighbouring Mirissa whale-watching boats head out in season, though sightings vary. The journey ends around Tangalle, where wide beaches, the rock temple of Mulkirigala and the turtle-nesting shore at Rekawa make for a quieter finale.
Each stop has its own character, from lively surf towns to almost empty sand, so the pace can be as active or as lazy as you like.
The route, pace and choice of hotels are shaped around you, and nothing is reserved until you are happy with the plan and have confirmed it.
