Hela Wellness & Sacred Sites 7-Day Journey

Lamp-light beneath the sacred Bodhi tree, a quiet climb at Mihintale, a meditation session in the Kandy hills and a day of traditional Ayurveda by the sea — a slow, private journey through the places and practices that shaped Sri Lanka's Hela wellness traditions.

Overview

This journey is built for travellers who want more than sightseeing. It follows the island’s oldest spiritual thread, from Anuradhapura, where the Sri Maha Bodhi has been tended for more than two thousand years, to Mihintale, traditionally honoured as the place where Buddhism was first taught in Sri Lanka. The days are unhurried, with time to sit, listen and simply be present at each site.

In the forest ruins of Ritigala, once home to ascetic monks and traditionally associated with healing herbs in local lore, you walk among stone meditation platforms under the canopy. Dambulla’s painted caves and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy follow, together with a visit to a Matale spice and herb garden, where the plants of the traditional Sri Lankan pharmacopoeia are grown. In Kandy a qualified teacher leads a guided meditation session suited to beginners.

The journey closes on the south-west coast, long known for its Ayurveda resorts, with a consultation with a qualified Ayurveda practitioner and traditional treatments such as herbal oil massage and steam. The experience is about rest and tradition, not medical treatment. If you have used our free horoscope or Hela Wellness Routines, tell us — we can shape the pace and the choice of sites around them.

The route, pace and hotels are tailored to you, and nothing is booked until you confirm.
