Ancient Kingdoms 8-Day Heritage Tour
Kings ruled from Anuradhapura for more than a thousand years before power shifted to Polonnaruwa and, much later, to Kandy. Trace that story over eight days, from vast brick stupas and carved moonstones to Sigiriya's rock citadel and the Temple of the Tooth.

Overview
Sri Lanka’s royal history unfolds across a handful of capitals, and this journey visits them roughly in the order they rose and fell. Anuradhapura, founded in the fourth century BC according to the island’s chronicles, still astonishes with its scale: monasteries, ancient reservoirs and dagobas such as Jetavanaramaya, once among the tallest structures of the ancient world.
Mihintale, traditionally associated with the arrival of Buddhism, and the forest monastery of Ritigala lead on to Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital whose royal palace, Vatadage and Gal Vihara sculptures are compact enough to explore by bicycle. Sigiriya, the fifth-century rock fortress of King Kashyapa, offers frescoes, water gardens and a summit with wide views over the plains. The route ends in Kandy, the last royal capital, home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Early starts help avoid the heat at the ruins, with afternoons kept free for rest, a swim or a quiet hour beside one of the ancient reservoirs.
Days can be added, removed or reordered, hotels are chosen to suit your style and budget, and nothing is booked until you confirm.
